Styling Outfits with Prints and Patterns

Hey Loves!

Notice any similarities between this outfit and the outfit featured in our last post, Weekend Wear: Formal to Fun in a Flash?

All I did was swap out my floral print skirt with cute palm shorts (outfit details below). Everything else is the same! Black tank, jean vest and wedge sandals.

Don’t be afraid to wear patterns ladies (and gents!). If you’re a beginner, here are a few simple tips to remember.

  1. Keep the focus on one item of clothing that has a pattern/print
  2. Pair with solid colors
  3. Wear items with similar hues (for example, I chose blues and blacks, but could have easily worn a white tank also)

Outfit details:

  • palm shorts – Attention brand from Kmart – ($4 on clearance!)
  • jean vest – Adam Levine brand from Kmart
  • black tank – Target
  • wedge sandals – Nine West

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wear: Formal to Fun in a Flash

Happy Friday!

We get it. Sometimes, when you’re running from one weekend event to the next, there’s not enough time to go home and change your outfit. So what’s a girl to do when you’re heading from church with the family to a fun Fourth of July BBQ with friends and need to look the part?!

Check out how we took this summer floral look from formal to casual chic by swapping out one clothing item for another. Yes, that’s right. A simple neutral blazer for a jean vest makes a huge difference.

Enjoy and Happy 4th!

xoxo,

Ava + Selena

red lipstick…for your eyes?

Yes, that’s right ladies and gents, there’s another use for your favorite red lip accessory.

It turns out that red lipstick is quite the concealer for those infamous racoon eyes. We hate our dark eye circles. OK. Hate is a bit harsh. We GREATLY dislike our dark eye circles. Covering our dark circles up is a pain. They never seem to want to go away, and we’ll try almost anything to make them look better.

That being said, when we recently came across this article via Buzzfeed, we couldn’t wait to give this handy trick a try.

We saw, we tested, we approve. It definitely works and since we love re-purposing our beauty products, we may start reaching for our red lipstick on a more regular basis.

AND, with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, now’s the perfect time to start slathering on that red.

Leave a comment below and let us know what you think.

xoxo,

Ava + Selena
