Sunsets and gold accents

Wow, we sure do have some catching up to do!

Let’s kick things off with my favorite shirt from this past summer. I bought this fun pineapple sequined top from H&M and fell in love with the shimmering sequins. It’s so easy to dress up and down. I paired it with some fun metallic heels here, a simple dark wash jean and a gold bangle, but it goes well with so much more!

Throw in a beautiful sunset for that extra special touch.

Stay tuned for more posts.

Day 1: One top; three different outfits

I bought this lace top from a cute store in Canada a couple of years ago and it’s become one of my favorites!

It’s not the easiest item to style, but I’ll show you 3 fun and unique ways to wear it over the next few days on the blog.

Happy first day of Spring!

Ava

BLD Tips – shopping clearance

Let’s face it. We love to shop. It’s hard coded into our DNA. However, being a smart shopper is key, because, while we can’t wait to slip on that perfect dress or strut down the street in those sexy new shoes, we’re on a tight budget. This is exactly why the clearance rack is our friend.

Items that are usually on clearance are discounted because they’re from the previous season. Stores need to make room for new inventory, so out with the old and in with the new. For us, this means unorganized racks of randomness, but we think the financial pay off makes it all worth it.

Below are a few of our clearance shopping tips:Ava and Selena_H&M

Plan ahead and shop off season. This is definitely easier said than done, but we guarantee you’ll be a happy camper if you do it. For example, if you’re in search of a new bikini, Fall is the perfect time to scan those racks. Need some new boots? Maybe a different color? Purchase them in the Spring. We recommend taking a moment to jot down the items you crave, according to season, as they come to mind.

Be patient. Don’t be discouraged by mix-matched sizes and scattered items. You might find it difficult to select something that suits your style and your wardrobe, but keep your eyes open for staple items. Examples are, a simple skirt/dress or a solid colored cardigan/blazer.

Don’t over do it. Sometimes we go shopping without a plan and are lured towards the rack with the red sign. Control yourself. Just because everything is less expensive than it usually is, doesn’t mean that you have to have it all. Try not to spend more than 5 minutes browsing one rack at a time.

Donate. Yes, it’s hard to part with your belongings, but practice makes perfect. Before you make that purchase, whether it be at regular, sale or clearance price, be ready to go home and set aside something to donate from your wardrobe. Make it a rule. For every item purchased, donate an item.

Happy shopping!

Ava and Selena

P.S. We recently scored big at H&M! Selena picked up this fun dress for $15 and styled it beautifully.
